Kidnappers in Jalingo, Taraba State, refused to release a pregnant woman who fell into labour in captivity, demanding ransom instead.

The gunmen abducted the lady and six other persons in Jalingo on Saturday night.

Daily Trust learnt that the abductors stormed the Primary Board Area in Jalingo at 3 am on Saturday and abducted the victims.

The pregnant woman based in Kano was said to have visited her parents for maternity leave.

Our Correspondent gathered that the gunmen targeted three houses in the area and operated for about 40 minutes.

However, the assailants called the father of the abducted pregnant woman and demanded immediate ransom, saying the woman had fallen into labour.

Police Spokesperson, Taraba Command, DSP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the abduction of the pregnant woman and six others but did not give details.
