Barely a week after the kidnap and subsequent release of an army captain by gunmen in Ondo state, another officer of the Nigerian Navy has been abducted.
The Navy Commander was said to have been kidnapped along Owo-Ikare road few days ago.
The identity of the naval officer is however yet to be ascertained.
It was learnt that he was on his way to Abuja when his abductors captured him along Ose-Oba Akoko road, in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Meanwhile , the kidnappers were said to be demanding for N50m to secure the release of the officer.
Spokesman for the Ondo state police command ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro confirmed the story.
He said policemen have been deployed to the area.
A joint military and police rescue team are also said to be combing the bushes in a bid to rescue the victim.
The army captain was kidnapped in Akoko area last week.
His abductors had demanded for the sum of N20 million.
Both military officers and policemen were deployed to comb the bushes in the process the abductors fled, abandoning the officer and others captured with him.
