Suspected kidnappers of Mr John W. Mamman, an aide to the Nasarawa State Governor, have demanded for a ransom of N20million, Daily Trust gathered on Monday.
Mamman is the Special Adviser on Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development to the governor.
It was gathered that they also demanded the release of one of them earlier arrested by the Police, and threatened to kill their victim if their demands were not met.
The victim’s family friend, who confided in our reporter, said the kidnappers had earlier demanded for the sum of N150million, but later reduced it to N20million on Monday evening.
According to him, they were demanding that one of them who was arrested by the locals but handed over to Police be released unconditionally.
He said that when the kidnappers called the family, they put the victim (Mamman) on phone, pleading to be rescued.
It will be recalled that Mamman was kidnapped on Saturday evening in his house at Dari, in Kokona local government area of the state.
The kidnappers, who invaded the house in their large numbers, surrounded the compound and shot sporadically to scare people in the area away before they succeeded in whisking the victim away.
However, luck ran out of one of the suspected kidnappers as he was nabbed by some members of the community and handed over to the Police.
Police spokesman in the state, ASP Ramhan Nansel, also confirmed the incident.
