Kidnappers of Edo APC chair demand N5m

The kidnappers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman of Ward 9, Orhionmwon LGA of Edo State, Mr Godwin Aigbogun, have demanded N5 million ransome.

A family member who craved anonymity told our reporter that the kidnappers opened discussion with the family using the victim’s phone.

He said, “They have contacted the family and are demanding N5m ransom to effect his release.”

Meanwhile, he said vigilantes, in collaboration with security agents, were combing the bushes to ensure the victim’s release.

It was gathered that Aigbogun (54) was kidnapped on Monday at Ologbo-Nugu community on his way from the farm.

The Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident but denied knowledge of the ransom request.

Nwabuzor added that the command’s anti-kidnapping and cybercrime units had embarked on bush combing with the aim of rescuing the victim unhurt and possible arrest or decimation of the kidnappers.
