Kidnappers of Akeredolu’s Chief of Staff’s wife remanded

A magistrate court in Ondo State has remanded nine suspected kidnappers at the state custodial centre.

The men were arraigned before the court for allegedly abducting Mrs Olubunmi Eunice, the wife of Chief of Staff to Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

The accused persons are: Ibrahim Yao Malu, Bamo Yusuf Mohammed, Umaru Abubakar, Umaru Aliu, Abubakar Haruna, Suraja Umaru, Kiro Mohammed, Gambo Yusuf and Umaru Sanni.

The State Counsel, Mrs O.T. Akeredolu, who led the prosecution team from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on November 26, 2020, at Owena-Akure road, Ondo.

She told the court that the accused persons conspired with others still at large to abduct Mrs Ake and also robbed one Ayeloja Olalekan of his Itel phone.

The offences, she said, contravened section 530 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol I Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.

Akeredolu said the accused persons intentionally committed the offences not minding the consequences.

The accused were not legally represented.
