Speaking to our reporter, who visited the community Tuesday, one of the released victims, Zainab Hassan, said she was sitting in their uncompleted building when she noticed her husband from nearby being beaten up.

She said, “I confronted them to find out what was the issue, that was when they abandoned him and ordered me to follow them.

“They took us to their base inside the bush before they changed their mind and released me and my neighbour’s baby of about six months as well as another woman who lives with her.”

A member of the security guard in the community, Abubakar Adam, said some residents along with members of the security guards in the community mobilized and made an attempt to get to the kidnappers as they were leaving.

“But we have to change our mind, having understood that we cannot confront them with our lighter arms,” he added.

Some residents, who spoke with City & Crime recalled that the latest incident was the third in the area during December in the last three years.
