Kidnappers kill ex-head teacher in Abuja

Barely three days after kidnappers abducted a staff member of the FCTA and 16 others in Pegi, Kuje, a retired head teacher at Kwaita in Kwali Area Council, Mr Ayuba Barnabas, and one other person have been shot dead by kidnappers at Yangoji village of the council.

City & Crime reports that Yangoji village is located along the Abuja-Lokoja expressway, about two kilometers drive from Kwali town of the FCT.

A resident of Yangoji, Saidu Ibrahim, said the incident happened around 11pm on Wednesday, when the kidnappers in their numbers invaded the residence of the deceased in the community.

He said the kidnappers, who defied a heavy downpour, positioned themselves at strategic places within the community, before invading the house.

He said the man attempted to escape through the back door but one of the kidnappers shot him, along with one of his tenants.

“Unfortunately, a tenant who is a Tiv man in the house was also killed when they both tried to escape through the back door,” he said.

According to him, the retired head teacher and the tenant died while being taken to Kwali General Hospital.

The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to confirm the latest kidnap incident at Yangoji as at the time of filing this report.
