The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has expressed worries over what she described as worsening security situation in her constituency, Isuikwuato in Abia State.
The lawmaker in a “Save our Souls” letter to the Inspector General of Police, a copy seen by our correspondent, said people of her constituency daily live in fear due to the activities of criminals and hoodlums who have taken over the entire farmlands in the area.

According to the letter, for the past five months, there was no day the constituency did not witness cases of kidnapping, rape and armed robbery perpetrated by persons suspected to be herdsmen and supposedly operating with local assistants.
“All the roads leading to Isuikwuato in recent time have become death traps to travellers. There is no day that Abia State University to Isuikwuato road and or Uzoakoli to Isuikwuato road do not witness a crime incident,” she said.
She pleaded with the IGP in the letter to urgently come to the rescue of the constituency to save the people from the siege and to avert the calamity that may happen if the activities of criminals should persist.
