Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has signed into law an amended penal code law prescribing death sentence for cattle rustling and kidnapping.

Similarly, rapists now get life sentence in addition to fines on convicts and compensation for victims.

Speaking while signing the law, Masari said it was informed by the current security challenges in the state.

He said the law was amended particularly in areas to do with kidnapping, cattle rustling, rape and other related offences,  adding that the decision to make the offences serious cannot be over emphasized.
