Sunday Trust gathered that the PDP chieftain was kidnapped at about 9:00pm on Friday at his residence on Ekeenede Street, off the popular Oba Market Road in the ancient city

Sources close to his family disclosed that 18 armed men in military uniform stormed Adun’s imposing residential complex in an 18-seater bus and whisked him away.

The sources said that the kidnap of the Peoples Democratic Party chieftain only dawned on those present when one of the armed men swooped on Adun and took him away as his fellow comrades in arms took vantage positions around the sprawling compound to avert any challenge.

An aide to Adun was said to have been shot as he attempted to prevent the kidnap of his boss. He is presently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

A close family source told our reporter that the gunmen had made no contact with the family of the kidnapped PDP chieftain.

Before his abduction, Chief Adun has been having a running battle with powerful forces in the state.

Sunday Trust recalls that the state inter-ministerial task force on the demolition of illegal structures had last month demolished his major motor-park located at the Oba Market near the Kings Square in Benin City.

However the state police command could not be reached to confirm the kidnap as all efforts to contact the commissioner of police, Mr. Danlami Yar’adua; the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Peter Ogboi and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (operations), Mr. C. Adoda proved abortive.
