Kidnappers have abducted a timber contractor, Idris Musa, and five others at Achido Tsoho community in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Daily Trust learnt that Achido Tsoho community shares boundary with Abaji Area Council of the FCT.

A family member of one of the people kidnapped identified as Yahaya said the abductors were demanding N9 million before they set free their victims.

He said the people were abducted last Wednesday at about 5:34pm where they were loading timber inside truck at the forest in the community.

He said the driver was about to start the vehicle when the kidnappers wielding AK-47 rifles suddenly appeared and rounded them up.

“Vigilantes in Abaji were contacted and they mobilised to the scene and provided cover for the truck loaded with timber to be driven to Abaji,” he said.

A vigilante member who preferred anonymity confirmed the abduction of the six people to our reporter, saying some vigilante members were mobilised to the forest to bring the truck back home.

He said the vigilantes were still combing the forest to track the kidnappers’ hideout and rescue the victims.

The spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command, DSP, Ramhan Nansel, however, said he was not aware of the incident.

“I even spoke with Toto DPO yesterday, and he told me he was not aware of such incident. And that is why we always advise that when such incidents happen, families of the victims should report to the police, but they don’t,” he said.
