The police in Nasarawa State have killed a suspected kidnapper who had been causing havoc and distress to travellers on the Nasarawa-Keffi highway.
DSP Ramhan Nansel, the police spokesperson in the state, disclosed this in a statement yesterday, saying the command received a distress call on Wednesday about hoodlums blocking the Nasarawa-Keffi highway with the intent to kidnap road users.
He further said, “In response, the police, in collaboration with the military, swiftly deployed to the scene. Upon encountering the joint operatives, the criminals opened fire, leading to a gun battle. During the exchange of gunfire, one of the hoodlums was fatally wounded and apprehended.
“The wounded kidnapper was immediately taken to the General Hospital in Nasarawa Local Government Area but later succumbed to injuries and died.
