A reverend father kidnapped has been freed after 10 days in captivity.
Fr Mathew Dajo, of the Parish Catholic Church, Yangoji in Kwali Area council, was released on Wednesday night, according to a source close to the incident.
The source said the priest was released around 9:23 pm on Wednesday, at an undisclosed forest, even as he declined to mention the ransom paid before he was released by his abductors.
His kidnappers had demanded N100 million in ransom.
“We give glory to God for answering our prayers as being a member of the church, our Reverend father has regained his freedom this night, but I can’t say whether a ransom was or not,” he said.
The priest was said to have been abducted by gunmen who invaded his private residence in Yangoji village and whisked him away at gunpoint after sporadic shooting.
The spokesperson of the FCT police command ASP Mariam Yusuf, could not be reached to confirm the release of the Reverend father as at the time of filing this report.
