Kidnapped police officer rescued in 24 hours

A police officer, ASP Clement Amoko, kidnapped in Benin City has been rescued, hours after he was abducted from his home, authorities say.

Amoko was rescued in an operation by men of various tactical and strike units of Edo police command.

He works with State Investigations Bureau.

Amoko was kidnapped on Sunday from his residence at Ogida Quarters of Benin City.

He is said to be hospitalised at an undisclosed location to get treatment for beatings he received while in captivity.

When contacted, state police public relations officer, DSP Princewill Osaigbovo confirmed the release of the kidnapped officer.

“I can tell you that he has been released and he is receiving treatment while he has also reunited with his family,” he said..
