Kidnapped Kwara ASP regains freedom

An Assistant Superintendent of Police in Kwara state (ASP), Ahmed Yusuf who was kidnapped at his Oloje residence in the state last week has regained freedom.

Yusuf of the Inspector General of Police monitoring team attached to Kwara State Police Command was rescued around 2:30 am on Sunday at a bush border between Kwara and Oyo State by the joint efforts of the police, Amotekun, hunters and vigilantes.

His abduction had generated public outcry within the community over the brazen manner the senior police officer was kidnapped.

City & Crime authoritatively learnt that the kidnappers had demanded N7m ransom before this latest development.

The Police PRO, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident on Sunday, said the six hoodlums abandoned the victim following severe pressure mounted by the rescue team.

According to him, “The ASP is currently undergoing a medical examination while effort is being intensified to get the abductors arrested for prosecution”.
