Justice Janet Gimba, a customary court judge in Kaduna State who was kidnapped alongside her four children in June, has been released.

Her three children are, however, still in captivity after their abductors reportedly killed the couple’s eldest son, 14-year-old Victor, just two days prior.

Dr. Musa Gimba, the judge’s husband, confirmed his wife’s release but revealed that the kidnappers were still demanding a ransom of N150 million for the children’s freedom.

He said the abductors had issued an ultimatum, demanding the ransom within six days starting from Wednesday and had threatened to harm the remaining children.

The Kaduna State Police Command confirmed the release of the judge and the tragic murder of Victor to journalists.

Police spokesperson in Kaduna, ASP Mansir Hassan, assured the public that authorities were working diligently to secure the release of the remaining hostages and apprehend the perpetrators.

He said operatives found Victor’s corpse at Ungwan Bayero, Duste village near toll gate, along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Tuesday, July 2.
