Two wives of a councilor representing Gwako ward in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja, and three others that were abducted in Kpakuru village of the council have regained their freedom after payment of N4 million ransom to the abductors.
Recall that gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had last Tuesday, invaded the councillors house, Idris Mohammed, and whisked away his two wives, younger sister and two of his younger brothers at gunpoint.
A family member of the victims who preferred anonymity, disclosed that the victims were released around 8:00 pm on Saturday after the ransom was taken to the Kidnappers at a location around Wumi forest, a village sharing boundary with Niger state.
“But can you imagine after they collected ransom far away Wumi village, we went to pick them around a bush near Giri junction them back home, even though we still give glory to God that they were back home safely,” he said.
The spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Maryam Yusuf, who asked our reporter to send a message to her phone after several calls, was yet to reply to the text to confirm the release of the victims.
