Kidnapped Borno judge regains freedom after 2 months

Boko Haram yesterday released a judge with Borno State High Court, Haruna Mshelia.

He was abducted by the terrorists while traveling to Maiduguri from Biu alongside his wife, driver and police orderly on June 24, 2024.

The Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Maiduguri branch, Hamza Zannah, confirmed to Daily Trust that the judge was released in good health.

“He is now resting in a secluded location after reuniting with his family, but his wife and driver are still in captivity.

“We pray for their unconditional release,” he added.

Mshelia, a former private lawyer, was appointed to the Borno State Judiciary in May 2012.

He was one of two High Court judges selected from private practitioners in the state.

His colleague, Mohammed Fadawu, was elevated to the Court of Appeal in July.
