The kidnapped Adamawa United Football Club driver, Kabiru Muhammad, has been released.
The driver, who was conveying players to Lagos for a football match, was abducted along Benin-Ore Express Way in Benin in Edo State, on Friday.

The kidnappers immediately contacted the club officials and demanded a N50 million ransom which they eventually reduced to N1 million.
Aliyu Abubakar Jada, permanent secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Sports, told Daily Trust in Yola, that Muhammad was released in Benin, the state capital, on Wednesday night.
Jada said the freed driver would undergo medical examination due to the stress his captors subjected him to.
He thanked the media for informing the public about the in incident.
“I want thank the media, particularly SWAN. I have received calls from within and outside the country from people who read the news, we are very grateful”, he stated.
The permanent secretary tasked the Federal Ministry of Sports and the Nigeria Football Federation to devise new ways to improve safety of players and reduce the stress they are subjected to when traveling for matches.
