A suspected kidnapper in Iji-Anyigba in Dekina LGA of Kogi State has been shot dead by a group.
Witnesses said the incident happened on Friday at about 9am near Unity Roundabout in Anyigba.
The suspect, identified simply as Iye, was said to have returned to Anyingba on Thursday with a new car from Ugwolawo in IgalaMela/Odolu LGA where the locals claimed, he ran to shortly after he was alleged to have killed a person in a kidnap operation.
A source, James Gbatigbi, explained that, ‘’He left Anyigba to hide at Ugwolawo for months when his name was mentioned in a kidnap incident where the victim died. Iye returned to town on Thursday and was trailed by his assailants and killed on Friday.

“He is a local engineer in house construction. He was also said to be making medicine against gunshot for people.”
Another source explained that Iye visited a local hotel near the Unity Roundabout on Friday morning after parking his car a few metres away.
He said that on his way out of the hotel towards where he parked his car he was shot severally by his assailants and that his family took his corpse from the roundabout and buried it shortly after the incident.
The Kogi State Police Command’s spokesman, SP William Aya, did not respond to a call and an SMS sent to him about the incident.
