As many as four of the players left in camp have been sidelined by injuries, with two out of that number said to be in worrying condition.
The injuries to Solomon Kwambe, who picked up some knocks against Gokana United, and Umar Zango, who did not make the trip to Port Harcourt, are said not to be very serious.
Those whose conditions are giving the medical team sleepless nights are Kano Pillars striker Mohammed Gambo, who suffered a relapse of an old complaint after making a brief recovery, and Adeyinka Adedeji who copped a hamstring injury while warming up for the game in Port Harcourt.
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi revealed that he is keeping his fingers crossed until the deadline date of naming the final squad before taking a decision on the players.
“We have worries medically but we will wait till the last minute to see if the players can pull through,” Keshi said.
Keshi’s charges face Glo Premier League champions Kano Pillars at the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium on Monday morning in their final preparatory match for Chan, which is taking place in South Africa from January 11 to February 1.
