Taraba State governor, Agbu Kefas, has gifted a two-time African Badminton Champion, Jinkam Bulus Ephraimu, with a cash prize of N10 million and a brand-new Toyota Hilux.
The presentation was said to be part of the governor’s ongoing commitment to promoting sports and youth opportunities in the state.
While presenting the gifts, the governor celebrated Ephraimu’s achievements in badminton and encouraged young people in the state to stay focused on their goals.
He emphasized that Taraba is rich in human and natural resources and called on youths to harness the resources for personal and community development.

In addition to the N10 million cash prize, the governor also awarded an additional N5 million to Ephraimu’s coach to recognize their shared dedication to the sport.
Ephraimu presented the governor with his awards and medals as a token of appreciation.
Reflecting on his journey, Ephraimu expressed gratitude to the state governor for sponsoring his recent trip to Cairo, Egypt, where he completed a coaching course in Badminton and Sports Administration.
The course has qualified him as a badminton coach.
Ephraimu pledged to use his new expertise to contribute to the development of sports in Taraba State and beyond, stating that, “I am committed to discovering and nurturing talents across the state.”
Announcing plans to tour all the 16 local government councils and the two special development areas of the state in search of promising young athletes, he urged the youth to remain focused, stating that Taraba’s vast potential can lead to success in all areas of life.
Also on her part, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mrs. Indo Maxson, hailed Ephraimu’s coaching qualification as one of the most significant advancements in the state’s sports sector.
