The management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has condemned the alleged assault and illegal detention of its staff by the Jigawa State Chief Judge, Aminu Sabo Ringim.

A statement from KEDCO, signed by the company’s spokesperson, Muhammad Kandi, said the staff was manhandled after he disconnected the CJ’s residence and office from the national grid due to nonpayment of electricity bills.

The statement described the action as violation of his staff’s fundamental rights and assured that the company would not accept such action anymore.

Reacting to the story, the spokesman of the Jigawa State Judiciary, Abbas Wangara confirmed the detention of a man suspected to be an imposter not a genuine KEDCO staff.

Wangara noted that later the Dutse KEDCO manager identified the man as their staff and he was released.
