Kebbi to vaccinate 12m animals against anthrax, others

The Kebbi State Government on Saturday flagged off vaccination of cattle, goats and other livestock against anthrax and other diseases.

The diseases to be vaccinated against include Contagious Bovine Pleuropneumonia (CBPP), Pest des Petit Ruminant (PPR), diarrhea of small ruminants and Newcastle Disease (NCD).

Speaking to journalists, the acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Animal Health, Husbandry and Fisheries, Ahmed Umar Ambursa, who represented Governor Nasiru Idris, said over 12 million cattle, sheep and goats were targeted for the exercise in the state this year.

He explained that the exercise was in collaboration with the Federal Department of Veterinary and Pest Control Services.

The Ardo of Hutawa in Dikko Anguwar Gagga, Aliyu Hakimin Gubuji, thanked the state government for placing premium on livestock development and improving animal health.
