The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kebbi State, Nura Bala Fingila, said over the weekend that Governor Nasiru Idris will soon approve the sponsorship of 150 indigent medical students.
Speaking at an event organised by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Birnin Kebbi to mark Governor Nasiru Idris’s first year in office, Fingila said sponsorship is part of the administration’s effort to enhance the manpower of state hospitals and other health facilities.
He said the governor has recently approved the recruitment of 4,000 health workers to strengthen the state’s health sector.
Earlier, Ahmad Rufai Abubakar, the state chairman of the NYCN, praised the impactful nature of Governor Idris’s administration over the past year, especially for the youth of Kebbi State.

He noted that the governor has maintained the payment of tuition fees for indigent students and recently approved tuition payments for Kebbi State students studying in Nigerian universities, as well as bursary allowances for students in India and Egypt.
