The Kebbi State government on Wednesday disclosed that arrangements have been concluded for the establishment of a commission for persons with disabilities in the state.
The state Commissioner for Information and Culture, Yakubu Ahmed-BK disclosed this while briefing journalists shortly after the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
He said the commission would be saddled with the responsibility of issues related to persons living with disability, adding that a bill seeking the establishment of the commission would soon be sent to the state House of Assembly.
“During our SEC meeting presided over by Governor Nasir Idris, we deliberated and arrived at a position on three issues.

“This includes; the establishment of Disability Commission, RIGATA Cultural Festival and Traditional Rulers Allowances”, he said.
He explained that the government was working towards the RIGATA Cultural Festival, which is expected to be held in February 2024 in Yauri Emirate, assuring that the arrangement had already begun in earnest.
The commissioner stated that the Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi had earlier requested for review of traditional rulers’ allowances to enable them to discharge their duties diligently.
He called on the people of the state to rally around the present administration to pave the way for more dividends of democracy in their respective domains.
He also said the transformation of the state capital, and completion of the multi-billion Naira ultra-modern secretariat projects embarked upon by the government are some of the giant projects that would directly touch the lives of the people of the state.
