The authorities of Kebbi State Football Association has said it would soon start the construction of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Technical Center in order to fully develop the game of football in the state.
The Chairman of Kebbi State Football Association who is also a member of the Congress of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Abubakar Ladan disclosed this to journalists in Birnin Kebbi at the weekend.
He said the grant for the construction of the facility was provided by FIFA through the NFF to develop football in Nigeria by 2018/2019.
He explained that the FIFA technical center would comprised a football field, grassed artificially and some other facilities such as offices, conferences and hostels.
Ladan said when the facilities are completed they would enable matches to be played in Kebbi with the likes of the national teams, under 17 and others that are camped in the state.
He said “Already Kebbi State Government has provided four hectares of land for the construction of the facility to the NFF in the state”.
Ladan who is also the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development in the State commended the Kebbi State Governor for supporting the establishment of a state team called “KEBBI UNITED” which he said was currently playing in the national league division one.
“The state has also sponsored 15 young boys from the secondary schools to learn football in Ilorin, Kwara State”, he said.
