Kebbi state government, has expended the sum of about N700 million for rehabilitation of water works for improving pipe born water supply in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Nura Usman Kangiwa, made the disclosure over the weekend while chatting with Journalists in Birnin Kebbi, saying the money was expended in the rehabilitation of Bi-Water and Dukku water works sites.

According to him, if the rehabilitation, expected to be completed by the end of the months went as scheduled, the newly developed areas in the metropolis that hitherto did not enjoy the supply of portable water would start to get supply.
Kangiwa stated that as part of proactive measure against possible water shortage from the state water bodies owing to global warming, the state government had drilled 10 boreholes as back up against any phenomenon.
“In order to bring an end to recurring water scarcity in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State government has spent the sum of N674 million for the rehabilitation of the water works of the metropolis.
“The rehabilitation of the Water Works is expected to be completed by the end of this month. Once completed, water supply in the state capital and environs will significantly improved.”
