The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 13 armed robbery and kidnap suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru M. Ibrahim, said the suspects were responsible for many of the kidnap and armed robbery incidents in various parts of the state.
He said the suspects, whose names were given as Bello Garba (aka Commander), Alti Alhajo Chede, Muhammadu Ali (aka Dutse), Garba Maduga, Aliyu Dikko Dankwarra and Bello Dan Jakiri, were arrested at their various hideouts with guns and other dangerous weapons.
He added that some of the victims of the suspected kidnappers were also rescued from their hideouts and reunited with their families.
The CP also stated that five other suspected armed robbers who attacked two people and snatched their motorcycle in Bahagu village in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state were also arrested.
He said: “When we heard of the attack my men swung into action and arrested Buba Mojo, Beluwa Sarki Fulani, Aliyu Janyo and Jemu Buba before they could flee the scene.”
CP Ibrahim also disclosed that a syndicate that specialized in stealing handsets was apprehended. “The handsets they stole in a shop at Argungu were valued at N725,000. The six suspects and their collaborators were arrested in different parts of Kebbi and Sokoto states,” he said.
He said 21 handsets and a motorcycle were also recovered from the suspects.
