Kebbi NUJ donates to deceased members’ families

As World Press Day is celebrated, the Kebbi State chapter of Nigeria Union of Journalists has  brought succour to the families of its deceased members with the donations cash and foodstuff to the bereaved families.

A total number of 18 families benefitted from the gesture.

The  Chairman of the State Chapter of the NUJ, Aliyu Jajirma, appealed for the sustenance  of the annual intervention by those coming to take over the union’s mantle of leadership.

“Keeping the families of the deceased members close to the union is a testimony that the union is concerned about the interest of its members even at death,” he said.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Rakiya Tanko Ayuba, commended the union  describing the gesture as timely.
