A mother of three, identified simply as Ankili, has been arrested by the police in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State for killing her day-old baby boy.
The suspect’s neighbours said she strangled the baby but that when he did not die she poured Hypo bleach into his mouth which ultimately killed him.
A woman living in her neighbourhood told our correspondent that after killing the baby she put him in a Ghana-Must-Go and dumped it in a hole.
She explained that, “When she was dumping the baby, a man who was passing by saw her and alerted Hisbah officials who came and arrested her.

She added that the suspect killed the child in the presence of her two other children aged seven and four years.
Those who know the woman at her beer parlour in the Mammy Market area of Dukku Barracks, said she did a similar thing while she was residing in the Argungu area of the town but escaped the law.
One of her associates in the Mammy market explained that, “We knew she was pregnant. She tried to abort the pregnancy many times but she didn’t succeed, probably that was why she killed the baby after birth.”
A Hisbah official told our correspondent that she confessed to killing the baby, noting that she was not remorseful as she was being handed over to the police.
