The group faulted the manner in which Katsina central senatorial district continued to dominate the political leadership in the state by producing all elected governors so far, saying it was now time for either Daura of Funtua zones to produce the next governor.
In a statement signed by its president Adamu Kabir Matazu after a stakeholders’ meeting held in Kano, the group said that in the interest of equity, justice and fair play, other senatorial districts should be allowed to produce governor in 2015.
The statement said: “As concerned members of the state, we appreciate the commitments and the unparallel role played by Governor Shehu Shema. However, we demand that in the interest of equity, justice and fair play, in the coming elections of 2015, the next governor should be conceded to either Funtua or Daura senatorial districts which are yet to produce a governor in the state since its creation.”
