Host club, Katsina United on Sunday night edged National League side, Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in a keenly contested final to emerge winners of the maiden edition of Governor Aminu Bello Masari Pre-season football tournament.
The well attended grand finale was decided at the Muhammadu Dikko stadium in Katsina under floodlight.

Substitute Umar Ladua scored the match winner off a sumptuous pass from Nafiu Ibrahim to give the ‘Changi Boys’ the important victory in the second minute of stoppage time.
The ‘Ikon Allah’ boys fought back but it was too late for any redemption.
With the victory, Katsina United under new Head Coach, Sadauki has started his reign on a solid note after replacing Henry Makinwa.
At the end of the match, Katsina United took home a giant trophy and other mouth-watering prizes while there were consolation prizes for Tornadoes who pushed the host team all the way before surrendering the title in the dying minutes of the match.
Governor Masari Pre-season Tournament is an initiative of the Katsina State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Hon. Aliyu Danlami who also bankrolled the tournament in appreciation of the sports loving governor’s giant strides.
