Katsina state government has set the resumption date for both private and public day schools across the state to be January 25, 2021.
This was contained in a circular titled “Approved guidelines for the resumption of primary and day secondary schools first term activities for the year 2021” dated January 19, 2021, obtained by Daily Trust.

The circular, signed by Musa Abdu Dankama, Permanent Secretary, Katsina state Ministry of Education, on behalf of the Commissioner, said the resumption for each School activities was subject to compulsory formation of School Security Committee which should include Parent Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman.
Other members, according to the circular include School Based Management Committee (SDMC) Chairman, traditional ruler of the school community, two religious organizations of the School community and representative of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Local Government where the school is located.
Others are representative of the Department of State Security (DSS) of the Local Government where the School is located and representative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps INSCDC) of the Local Government where the School is located.
“The Security Committee of each School must be inaugurated before the resumption date and suffice it to say that it is compulsory for each School Management to ensure COVID-19 protocols compliance by both Staff and Students,” the circular read in part.
