School girls on Wednesday in Katsina staged a peaceful rally demanding for the passage of the state child protection bill to address rape and other social vices against children in the state.
 
Speaking on behalf of the school girls Khadijat Aliyu stated the need for State to also launch campaigns towards ending all forms of violence against children as obtained in other states.
 
According to her, government should support the creation of Child Protection clubs in all schools across the state saying, ‘ we have seen the importance of such club in our school’
 
‘ We staged this rally to among other things appreciate efforts of government, like in areas of street hawking, improving number of schools enrolment, creating enabling environment for teaching and learning’ she said.
 
She said, as members of the child rights advocacy club, ‘ we are proud to be at this stage of life and at times the United Nation’s placed importance on the adolescent girl in achieving the targets of the sustainable Development Goals.
 
In his remarks, the area operation manager of Save The Children International , Nura Mohammed said this is a special day set aside to reflect on the girl child on how to make better their lives by ensuring protection and provision of education and health to make them better beings.
