In Katsina, the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC held a peaceful protest march passing through the major streets in the state before terminating at the government house to deliver their stand on the N30,000 minimum wage.
The labour in the state insist that there is no going back and will work against any governor who is not down with it.
Addressing workers at the secretariat of Local government employees ahead of the march, the state chairman of the NLC Tanimu Saulawa said it is disheartening for governors to be toying with the minimum wage issue.
According to him, the labour has resolved to mobilised against any governor who opposed the N30,000 minimum wage noting that ” such governors should not await any votes from NLC members and dependants.
“It will amaze you to know that, a sitting governor who cannot even pay the N18,000 minimum wage in his state is the one championing this governors latest onslaught against workers” he said.
Daily Trust reports that the at the government House the labour union leaders presented their stands to the state government which was received by the Special Adviser on Labour, Aminu Lawal.
