Katsina State Chapter of National Association of Women Journalist NAWOJ has discribed the recent ban on production of cough syrup containing codeine as a welcome development.
The State Chairperson of NAWOJ Hauwa Ibrahim Jikamshi in a statement made available to newsmen said ,the gross abuse of cough syrup containing codeine among youth and women, called on all and sundry to join the crusade against abuse of drugs and other substance.
She appealed to NDLEA , NAFDAC and other relevant agencies to intensify effort towards enforcing the ban as directed by the Federal Ministry of Health just as she acknowledged the efforts made by katsina state Government in setting of a committee to control the sales of illicit drugs as well as the sensitization campaign being carried out by the Governor’s wife Hajiya Hadiza Aminu Bello Masari on the danger s of drugs abuse in the society she assured the readiness of NAWOJ to complement such effort to ensure healthy and virile society.
