Katsina govt gives palliatives to 135,000 households

The Katsina State government has donated palliatives to about 135,000 vulnerable households across the 34 local government areas of the state and urged those responsible for distributing the items to ensure it reaches the targeted beneficiaries.

Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Tasiu Musa Maigari, while launching the fifth phase of the distribution exercise in Malumfashi, said the palliatives were provided to cushion the effect of COVID-19 among vulnerable households in the state.

In Funtua zone, the Deputy Speaker, who is the chairman of the zonal distribution committee, Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, said at least 8,465 households benefitted from the palliatives and called on citizens of the state to continue to pray for peace and security particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

In Katsina zone, the exercise took place in Kaita town, Kaita Local Government Area, and the items distributed include maize, millet and guinea corn where more than 600 households from the local government are expected to benefit.

While flagging off the distribution exercise at the Kaita Local Government Secretariat, the State Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, who was represented by Alhaji Salisu Ado Shinkafi, explained that the palliatives were meant to provide succour to the vulnerable households in the state and urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the commodities to serve the purpose it was meant for.
