The Emir of Katsina, Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, on Thursday, launched a humanitarian foundation called “The Emir of Katsina Foundation for Peace”.
It will, among other things, support the government of the state in whatever way possible to address issues of insurgency.
Explaining more objectives of the foundation, the emir, through the Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) of the foundation and Wazirin Katsina, Senator Ibrahim Ida, said it would also be assisting those affected by insurgency and forced out of their homes to become internally displaced persons (IDPs).
He said, “The foundation will also assist orphans and those in dire needs, be it material, spiritual or medical needs. It will help women that have health issues, with people of Babbar Ruga Hospital receiving particular attention. It will be helping mentally affected people so that they can be treated.”

He added that the foundation would also be helping youths with different skills so as to become self-reliant and also to assist authorities concerned in tackling problems of drug abuse.
Highlight of the launching ceremony held at the emir’s palace was the distribution of relief items, including clothing and foodstuff, to some of the beneficiaries.
