Katsina cuts taxes, fees for businesses

The Katsina State Government has approved tax relief packages as measures to mitigate Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on businesses in the State.

A statement by the state chairman Board of Internal Revenue, Alhaji Aminu Abdulmumini, said the state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, gave the approval.

The measures cover outstanding tax liability reduced from 100 per cent to 75% interest and penalties with waiver of 50 per cent while annual returns have 100% amnesty.

Others are rebates on road taxes with 20 per cent reduction on all charges except New National Plate Number (NNPN), whereas livestock and produce Charges has 50% reduction on all official rates.

These measures include reduction of 25% in tax liability from October 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020; Waiver on interest and penalties from October 1 to June 30, 2021; Amnesty for default on filing annual returns from October 1 to December 30, 2020

Others were Rebate on road taxes from October to October 31, 2021; Incentive on tax due for new taxpayers from October to March 30, 2021, while pruning of livestock/produce fee is from October  to December 30, 2020.
