The Katsina State Government has said it has recorded a case of monkeypox while results of 15 other samples are being awaited.
The state Commissioner of Health, Yakubu Nuhu Danja, disclosed this yesterday while flagging off the distribution of free medicare medicines and commissioning of emergency operations call centre at the State Primary Healthcare Agency office.

He said the patient had been treated and discharged.
The distribution of the free drugs, the commissioner said, was a proactive measure against a possible outbreak of diseases usually associated with the rainy season.
“The drugs being launched today are for the improvement of maternal and child health care and survival.
“We have also made provisions for drugs for the management of epidemics like meningitis, measles and cholera,” the commissioner has said.
Danja also unveiled 140 units of TCW40 Solar Direct Drive vaccine refrigerators received from the NPHCDA for onward distribution to PHCs across the state, a gesture which he said will improve vaccine storage potency and reduce the cost of distribution.
