Katsina bandits defy lockdown, attack villages

Three villages of Mabai (Kankara LGA), Banyan Kasuwa in (Dustinma LGA), and Musawa town (Musawa LGA) have recorded bandit attacks amidst the ongoing COVID 19 lockdown in Katsina State.

Both Musawa and Dutsinma LGA’s are among the several councils under lockdown due to reported coronavirus cases.

In Musawa town, a housewife, identified as Hadiza Sale, alongside her two children were abducted. The children were later released by the bandits who escaped with her.

At Mabai village, at about midnight of Wednesday, gunmen attacked the village killing one Sada Musa while Karibu Mohamed was hit by a stray bullet.

Also, the bandits four days ago attacked a neighbouring Katsalle village with unconfirmed sources saying two persons were killed.

The spokesman of the Katsina state police command, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the attack and killing on Mabai village but said there was no casualty in Katsalle village.
