Katsina State House of Assembly has faulted the ongoing peace deal entered with bandits in the state because of the recent increase in banditry in the state.
Arising from its emergency sitting on Monday, the house asked the state executive arm to revisit the deal with the various gangs operating as bandits.
Some other resolutions adopted and seen by Daily Trust in Katsina on Tuesday asked the government to as a matter of urgency overhaul all its existing strategies, policies on combating banditry and related activities.
The state government was also asked to consider blending its current modern approach with traditional methods of combating the problem together for optimum results.
Also, the assembly called on the state government to convene a security summit to aggregate the views of security, ICT experts and other relevant professionals to develop a road map for confronting the problem head-on.
The government was also asked to approach the federal government for technical and all necessary assistance for tackling the problem.
Speaking on the issue, the Deputy Speaker and member representing Faskari LGA, Engr Dalhatu Tafoki, said the assembly is deeply concern over the increasing insecurity across the state and feel the need to draw the attention of the executive for appropriate actions through some of the resolutions deliberated at the floor of the house.
He said the resolutions were reached after a debate by members of the affected councils namely: Faskari, Jibia, Safana, Kankara, Dandume, Batsari, Sabuwa, Danmusa, Musawa, Dutsinma, and Kurfi.
