Twenty-three opposition political parties in Katsina state have thrown their weight behind the candidature of Senator Yakubu Lado of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on their behalf, the chairman of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Habibu Yau, said their decision to support him “was based on our national alliance; hence to domesticate it here also.”
He said what is expected of their members is to come out en mass and support the PDP saying that “in all the 34 local governments we have members and are being reached to do the needful.”
According to him, PPA as a party has at one time produce governor in Abia and Imo states noting that we are good to go but based on our understanding we choose to be with the PDP.
He noted that “All we want is a peaceful election and we shall be victorious.”
“If we wanted money, we would have been at the government house but our interest is for the common man and we have realised that PDP is that party that has the interest of people at heart,” he added.
