The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi CCIE has assured the management of Jigawa Institute of Information Technology, Kazaure of his readiness to revive the Institute  as one of the epicentres of harnessing IT gurus in the country.

The DG made this assurance when he received the Rector of the Institute, Professor Babawuro Usman, who was at the Agency on courtesy visit today.

Inuwa said that, under his watch, NITDA will do everything possible to ensure that the once renowned Information Technology Institute will rise again from its present state and move to compete with other international IT institutions.

He said the Institute has, over the years, graduated thousand of Nigerian youths who are presently offering technology services in various corporate entities and business organisations across the globe.

“It is a great pleasure to have received you in my office today. Your institution has been doing a great a job especially in grooming young Nigerians in Information and Communication Technology. “We need to work together as a team to lay a foundation of nurturing our students and also teach courses about Emerging Technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing and Robotics; this will actualise our dream of having Digital Nigeria in near future. “I assure you my total commitment and readiness to revive this great institution through capacity building, introduce special courses and also provide necessary tools to those who excelled among their peers, so that we can create potential employers, not employees of labour.

The NITDA boss said that, “Nigeria has potential youths who are ready to work in technology sector, but institutions like this have enormous role to play particularly in providing them with prerequisite entrepreneurship skills so that they can set up their own businesses and employ others,” adding that “technology is now running world’s economy, and this is happening as a result of emerging technologies”.

He also emphasised on the need for Information Technology institutions to brainstorm and come up with a strategic framework that will set a pace for teaching Nigerians Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Robotics courses.

“If you look at how the world is moving now, you will find that technology companies employ larger workforce than manufacturing companies. This happened because of emerging technology. What a human being can spend long time to produce, a machine can produce it in higher quantity in a short period of time,” the DG added.

Earlier in his remark, the Rector of Jigawa State Institute of Information Technology (Informatics) Kazaure, Professor Babawuro Osman cited some achievements recorded on International Advanced Diploma in Network and Computer Security, International Diploma in Information Technology and Communications, Programming and Systems Development, Networking and Cyber Security, National Diploma in Computer Engineering and High National Diploma in Computer Science.

He said Informatics Kazaure has been offering other exceptional courses that give students opportunity to develop essential skills, knowledge and increase their chances of success.

He added that Informatics Kazaure will welcome any idea coming out from NITDA in order to drive Government’s new policy of National Digital Economy.

“We are grateful for this reception and also glad to have NITDA on board for our quest to reinvigorate Informatics Kazaure. We are ready to join hands with NITDA and other industry players to ensure we reignite our greatness,” he said.
