Kanu’s arrest: Kudos to our security agencies

The news of the arrest and repatriation from Kenya of this Century’s secessionist-in-Chief and leader of the proscribed indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu through collaborative efforts just a week ago was certainly a big relief to most Nigerians.

The way and manner IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN unleashed terror, mayhem, killings, maiming, arson and destruction of private and public properties in the South East region of the country leaves much to be desired.

Coordinated in the most secretive way by the National Intelligence Agency, NIA alongside other Nigerian Security and Intelligence agencies, which lasted for more than one year was Nigeria’s most successful repatriation ever.

We are all aware that Kanu jumped bail after his arraignment on October 14, 2015, by a Federal High Court in Abuja on an 11 count charge bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony, managing an unlawful society, publication of defamatory matter, illegal possession of firearms and improper importation of goods among others.

My point today day is to bring to the fore the professional way in which our security agencies like the NIA, DSS, Police among others have proved to Nigerians that once they are trusted,  empowered and given free hand they can deliver their best without any encumbrances.

In the case of Kanu’s arrest and subsequent repatriation, our patriotic, professional security and intelligence agents have kept their plans in their chests like their colleagues in the developed countries in line with global best practices.

What matters most is that from the incubation, plans and execution of the arrest and repatriation of Kanu, it was top secret all the way. No leaks, no clues as to what was in the offing for Kanu.

For this, our security agents must be appreciated and commended for a job well done. They deserve a pat on the back for keeping to their pledge to defend the country and its interests.

They have proved to President Muhammadu Buhari and the country that they can be relied upon to at all times do the needful.

This landmark achievement has already sent signals to anarchists that it won’t be easy for them under a PMB administration.

Enough is enough of the atrocities in the South East of Nigeria.  Kanu, IPOB and ESN have misled Igbos in particular and the South East region in general.

One prays that they will learn from this bitter experience, repent and work for the unity of the country as one indivisible entity.
