Kano’s 3 new emirates to get N3.9bn road networks

Kano State government has ratified contracts for the construction of township road networks in three of the new emirate councils created in the state to fast track development in the areas. 

This was announced by the state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, while relaying the outcome of the state executive council meeting, held at the government house. 

He said the road networks, to be constructed in Rano, Gaya and Karaye emirates, would cost N3.9 billion.

“The state executive council has approved the construction of township road networks in 3 new emirate councils of Gaya, Rano and Karaye at the total cost of N3, 942, 564, 267.77 billion naira. 

“This is aimed at bringing about colossal development as well as  boosting the general economic status of the state and further endearing government to the teeming populace.” he said. 

Garba also said the council meeting granted approval for the augmentation of the sum of N42, 350, 998.31million naira as additional cost of the contract for the construction of Dala Inland Dry Port internal and access road networks at Zawachiki in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state. 

The commissioner also announced that the council approved the release of N1 billion for the implementation of some special intervention projects in some local government areas in the state. 

According to the commissioner, the areas to be covered by the intervention include education, healthcare services, road infrastructure, environment, electrification and water supply at various locations of 17 local government areas spread across the five emirates in the state.
