Kano’s 20,522 tuberculosis patients “missing”

No fewer than 20,522 Tuberculosis (TB) patients in Kano State have gone ‘missing’ after being tested positive, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Tsanyawa, has said.

Speaking at an occasion to commemorate World Tuberculosis Day, Tsanyawa said Kano, being the most populous state in the country and one of the five highest TB burden states, is estimated to have 32,376 affected people in the year 2019.

Of the affected patients, Tsanyawa said the state detected and notified a total of 11,854 while 20,522 were “missing”.
