Kano state government is to sponsor 100 women for automobile mechanic training under its partnership with Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited (PAN), in Kaduna state.
The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Yar’dada Maikano Bichi made the disclosure at the 2nd matriculation ceremony of Digital Bridge Institute’s National Innovation Diploma Programme.
Hajiya Yardada said Kano state government had earlier trained 50 women in the automobile mechanic at PAN.
“Kano state government is committed to women empowerment. It is on record that a lot has been done to women by the present administration. The Gadnuje-led administration is committed to the development of women folks,” she said.
In his address, Chairman of the Governing Board, Digital Bridge Institute, Engineer Titi Omo-Ettu said in the 2018/2019 academic year, 104 students had been matriculated, noting that the institute’s main concern was to give its students innovative skills that would enable them to lead in the telecommunication sector.
He added that, the institution would partner with multi-national bodies to link up its graduates with international organizations for positive and advance pursuance of their professional skills.
