Kano State Executive Council has constituted an inter-agency investigative panel to look into issues of unreported staff pensions contributions at the Kano State University of Technology (KUST), Wudil.
The council also directed that disciplinary procedures be instituted against the vice chancellor and bursar of the university in line with Public Service Rules and extant laws of the university.
The state’s Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, who disclosed this on Monday, said this was part of the resolutions reached at the last council weekly meeting.
He added that the council also directed that a panel be constituted to investigate the entire outstanding liabilities and audited accounts of the university to recover lost resources and sanction erring officers.
In a related development, the council has approved the recommendation for the upgrading of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso to become Kano State University of Education (KSUE).
Similarly, a bill for the conversion of Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital to become Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano Teaching Hospital has been approved for transmission to the state house of assembly for passage into law.
